This collection contains photocopies of letters, marriage certificates, indentures, and a newspaper clipping from the Stirk family of Savannah, Georgia from 1726 to 1847 and 1992. There are some letters from Samuel Stirk (1756-1793), an attorney in Savannah, to his parents, Nathan and Mary, in England. The original documents are in possession of the donor.

Stirk, Samuel, 1756-1793

Samuel Stirk (1756-1793) was an attorney in Savannah, Georgia and later Attorney General of Georgia. During the Revolutionary War he was a Lt. Colonel of the Georgia Militia. Stirk was a member of the Executive Council in 1777 and a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1781, but he did not attend the meeting.
